Chennai: Dr. Vijay Viswanathan recently took over as the president of D-Foot International, based in Belgium with diabetic foot experts from 95 countries in the world.
According to a release, Dr Vijay Viswanathan is the third President of D-Foot International and the first non-European to occupy this post.
The mission of the organisation is to prevent lower limb amputations due to Diabetes worldwide.
“Dr Vijay Viswanathan has been working for past 30 years with a mission to save the feet of people with diabetes. His team and he has successfully saved around 100,000 people from lower limb amputation by developing a model for foot care which is cost effective and affordable to people in India compared to the facilities available in Europe and USA,” it added.
