A unique telemedicine platform for joint video consultation, PyraMed is now live. A brainchild of senior paediatric surgeon Dr Ketan Parikh, this application aims to empower all doctors with specialist/super-specialist medical advice. This will help provide quality medical opinion even in the remotest parts of India at an affordable cost. The ease and capability of accessing specialist opinion will enable the local doctors to make quick and timely decisions for their patients.
Plant power
Avni, a menstrual care start-up, has launched a range of plant based hygiene products including- bio enzyme period wear liquid cleaner, menstrual cup wash and Antibacterial intimate wipes.
The brand said it has been working towards breaking misconceptions associated with the use of cloth-based sanitary pads during menstruation.
“It is a sheer misconception that cloth-based pads are unhygienic or harmful. On the contrary, clean cloth-based pads are chemical-free, skin-friendly, and cause no harm to the women or the environment. We are trying to create awareness and provide a more viable solution to women,” said Mrs. Sujata Pawar, founder, Avni.
Community stem cell banking
LifeCell has announced the milestone of preserving 60,000 qualified cord blood units in its repository of Indian origin stem cells. Currently, cord blood stem cells have found life-saving applications in the treatment of more than 80 cancerous and non-cancerous disorders including multiple myeloma, thalassemia, aplastic anaemia and more, it said.
“Community stem cell banking is a novel banking model conceptualised by LifeCell wherein a babyâs preserved cord blood stem cells become part of a common pool that is shared only among the community members. This gives protection to the baby as well as immediate family members including the siblings, parents, and maternal and paternal grandparents,” it added.
