After a long gap, cinema halls in Tamilnadu have been opened to 50 per cent capacity last week.Industry sources say some biggies are expected to release in coming weeks. They include Thalaivii, a bio-pic on former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Vijay Antony starrer Kodiyil Oruvan, Laabam featuring Vijay Sethupathi & Sruthi Hasan.
Meanwhile this week, theatres saw films like Akshy Kumar starrer Bellbottom, horrorthriller Conjuring and a couple of Telugu films screened.
Says an avid film-buff, ‘The theatres are opened again. We are thrilled. It is a joy for us to be back enjoying our favourite filnson big screen. The feeling of watching them in cinema-halls with audience is a delight. We will follow all safety protocols and have a happy watch.’
A section of theatre-owners expressed confidence that people will be back to cinema halls. It will be business as usual. We will follow all safety rules. All thoseĀ visiting will be checked for temperature. Wearing masks will be made mandatory. Also social distancing will be followed throughly’.
Meanwhile a few say, ‘Many lost jobs. Salaries were cut. Economically we all suffered a setback. Unless ticket rates are reduced and rates of those food items sold in canteen are reduced, we cannot go to theaters’.
