Chennai: The State government’s decision to construct ‘mani mandapam’ (memorial) for 21 martyrs of Vannniar community who died during protest seeking reservation has been welcomed by president of All India Pattali Munnetra Katchi CN Ramamurthi.

In a press release, he said, “We profusely thank the Chief Minister for his announcement regarding building mani mandapam and providing job to kin of martyrs.”

He further said, “The Chief Minister should consider all 25 martyrs. It has been specified as 21. Even former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on several occasions stressed it as 25”.
