Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced Anna medals to 134 police and other uniformed services personnel on the occasion former CM C N Annadurai’s birth anniversary.

An official release here said in recognition of the outstanding devotion to duty of the Police, Fire and Rescue Services, Prison Service, Home Guards, Finger Print Science and Forensic Science Officers/Personnel in the State and also to encourage them, the Tamilnadu Chief Minister’s Medals are announced and awarded on the occasion of Anna’s birthday on 15 September every year.

This year, Stalin ordered award of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Anna Medal to 100 Police Personnel/Officers from the rank of Grade-II Police Constable to Superintendent of Police, eight Fire and Rescue Service Personnel/Officers from the rank of Fireman to District Officer, ten Prison Service Personnel/Officers from the rank of Grade-I Warder to Superintendent of Prisons, five Home Guards Officers from the rank of Assistant Platoon Commander to Area Commander, two Officers from Finger Print Science Unit in the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police and two Officers from Forensic Science Department in the rank of Junior Scientific Officer and Deputy Director in recognition of their Outstanding Devotion to Duty.

Moreover, the Chief Minister’s Fire Service Medal for Gallantry and cash prize of Rs five lakh each is awarded to seven Fire and Rescue Services personnel for their gallant act including K Sivarajan and P Krishnamoorthy who have sacrificed their lives due to severe injuries when they got trapped under the collapsed building, while rescuing many human lives and properties in a fire accident at Sanjay Textiles at Madurai on 14 November, 2020.

The medals will be presented by the Chief Minister at a Ceremonial Medal Parade to be held in due course.
