New Delhi: In one of the biggest reshuffles in constitutional courts, the Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice of India N V Ramana has recommended appointment of eight High Court judges as Chief Justices of various HCs and transferred five HC chief justices as head of other HCs, thus taking steps to put in place new Chief Justices in 13 States.
According to reports, among the significant transfers recommended by the collegium are those of Calcutta High Court Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal as Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, and of Tripura High Court Chief Justice Akil Kureshi as Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court.
The past one month has seen the Collegium recommend over 100 judicial appointments, several transfers and elevations of judges, advocates and Chief Justices. The Collegium began its work on a historic note with the successful recommendation of nine new judges to the Supreme Court that were quickly approved by the government.
