Chennai: At least 13 districts of Tamilnadu reported an increase up to 15 cases compared to their Tuesday tally. Deaths due to the viral infection increased to 24 compared to 17 on Tuesday.
Tamilnadu reported 1,624 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, pushing the overall caseload to 26,62,177, while 24 deaths took the toll to 35,550, said a bulletin by Health department.
Recoveries marginally eclipsed new infections with 1,639 people getting discharged in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 26,09,435, leaving 17,192 active infections, it added.
At present, 17,192 people are under treatment in the State. Of them, Coimbatore accounts for the most number of patients at 2,036, followed by Chennai with 2,006. A total of 1,51,678 samples were tested, taking the total count to 4,68,40,515.
