
Chennai: Former Minister Veerapanadi Aarumugam’s son Veerapandi Raja passed away today morning in Salem due to heart attack.
Veerapandi Raja was elected as an MLA in 2006. Sources said that Raja was getting ready to celebrate his birthday today when he suffered from cardiac arrest. He was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared dead. Raja was one of the ruling DMK’s election committee member.
Chief Minister MK Stalin and Finance Minister PTR Thiagarajan travelled to Salem to pay their respects to Veerapandi Raja.
In his condolence message Stalin mentioned that Raja was efficient in whichever post he held in the party.
‘Even two days ago I spoke with him while attending a function at Salem. Raja’s demise is not a single person’s death but a huge loss to the party,’ Stalin added.
Several politicians including PMK leader Ramadoss and Dravidar Kazhagam chief Veeramani also conveyed their condolences.
