Dindigul: In a tragic incident, three members of family–father and his two sons–were electrocuted to death at Chettipatti village in Dindigul district on Friday.
Police sources said the decased were Tirupathi and his sons Vijay Ganapathy (17) and Santoshkumar (15).
Tirupathi suffered electric shock when he touched an iron pipe to dry the wet the clothes and collapsed. Vijay and Santhoshkumar went to his rescue and they too suffered electric shock.
Two of their neigbbours–Murugan and Surya–who tried to save the trio also suffered electric shocks.
Acting on information, police rushed to the spot and shifted all the five people to Dindigul government hospital, where Tirupathi and his two sons, declared brought dead.
Murugan and Surya were undergoing treatment at the hospital. A pall of gloom descended on the village following the death of three members of a family. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
