Illegally detained for 28 hours: Priyanka Gandhi

New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said today that she had been illegally held indefinitely by the Uttar Pradesh government for 28 hours and targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a Union Minister’s son accused of running over farmers at a protest in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday.

Taking to the social media, she further asked why, however, the one who crushed the farmers was still not arrested. She also posted a video of protesters being driven over by a car along with the tweet.

‘Modi-ji is coming to celebrate Azaadi (freedom). Who gave us freedom? Farmers gave us freedom. What moral authority do you have to celebrate in Lucknow and not sack your minister and arrest his son? This government does not have moral authority to continue if this minister continues,’ she said.

‘Modi-ji, will you go to Lakhimpur Kheri?’ she added. The Congress general secretary was taken into custody on Monday morning along with party lawmaker Deependra Singh Hooda and others while on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh to visit the families of those who were killed during Sunday’s violence.
