Mani Ratnam launches Venmurasu album


Chennai: Venmurasu Musical celebration event was held online recently in the presence of film director Mani Ratnam. The event was organised by Vishnupuram Literary circle (America) to celebrate writer Jeyamohan’s Venmurasu, an epic novel of 26 books and 26000 pages, based on the Mahabharata.

The documentary includes a musical tribute to Venmurasu, composed by Rajan Somasundaram, featuring a German Brass band, strings by the North Carolina Symphony, and vocals provided by actor Kamalhaasan, singers Sriram Parthasarathy, and Saindhavi Prakash.

Select lines of poetic beauty from the beautifully lyrical novel, Neelam, one of the books in the Venmurasu series, have also been set to music. The Venmurasu music album was released by Mani Ratnam. He called it a innovative feature in art, to see a documentary movie and musical composition being made for a literary novel.
