Srinagar: An army officer and a soldier have been killed in action during a counter terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The gun battle between the army and terrorists erupted in Poonch-Rajouri forests, four days after five army personnel were killed in action in the same area.
The encounter broke out in Bimber Gali village of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch. The area lies in forest areas between Poonch and Rajouri.
In a statement today, the Indian Army said, ‘Two soldiers including a JCO were critically injured in the fresh exchange of fire between the security forces and terrorists last evening.’
The Army has said that contact was established with the hiding terrorists in Rajouri forests who were responsible for the killing of five soldiers on Monday.
