Chennai: Tamilnadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian today said that the mega vaccination camp for this week will be held on Saturday (23 October) instead of Sunday.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said, ‘this week’s camp will be held on Saturday instead of Sunday as non-vegetarians and people with drinking habits hesitate to take the vaccination.’ He further said that 50,000 special camps will be held this week.
It may be noted that Subramanian along with Deputy Commissioner and veterinary officers of the Greater Chennai Corporation visited IIT Madras on Sunday following the news of the death of 45 dogs on the campus. Subramanian said that at present there are 87 dogs in the campus.
‘According to the 2020 census, there were 188 dogs, out of these 14 dogs were released, 29 were adopted and twoo of them escaped from the campus. It is said that 56 dogs have died in the past year. The management has said that the dogs had died due to illness and old age. The carcass of a dog has been sent for autopsy to determine the reason behind the death,’ he said.
The Minister also added that the management has also been asked to take care of the deer in the campus as well.
