Chennai hospital handles over 2000 deliveries during pandemic


Chennai: Gleneagles Global Health City (GGHC) has claimed to have successfully performed over 2000safe deliveries during the last 1.5 years of the pandemic while maintaining a very low infection rate.

Dr Padmapriya Vivek, head of department – Obstetrics and Gynecology along with her team of doctors have performed all the 2000 plus safe deliveries adhering to all the infection control protocols, it said.

Dr Padmapriya was quoted as saying, ‘Handling and treating Covid positive mothers who are likely to deliver premature babies is a new and varied learning for us during the pandemic. We had seen a sudden rise of Covid positive mothers during the second wave of 2020. While battling the pandemic, it was extremely crucial for us to ensure that the newborn babies are delivered in a safe atmosphere and also to prevent patient to patient transmission of the infection.’
