Chennai: ‘Human birth is a rare boon of the God. Apart from trying to realise the Almighty, we should also help others in whatever way possible. Helping others is the essence of humanity,’ said Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal of Kancheepuram Sri Sankara Math.

In his Deepavali message from the Shrimatam camp at Kanchi Mahaswami Manimandapam, Orikkai, he said, ‘we should develop passion towards service and reach out to the needy. It is our duty to take good care of elders.’

‘Education should be learnt with Guru Bhakthi and we should develop Dheiva Bhakthi,’ the seer said and added: ‘We should choose good friends.’

Quoting Tamil scholars and their works, he said, ‘Tamilnadu has given us great gems of wisdom. We should follow them.’
