Coimbatore: The reports of two cases of swine flu in Coimbatore were a typing error, and the patients only tested positive for common flu, Chief Health Officer of Coimbatore Corporation Dr Satish Kumar has said.
Collector of Coimbatore district Dr S Sameeran said two patients undergoing treatment here were suffering from mild influenza and not swine flu as was reported in a section of the press.
There is no cause for concern as the medical team from the district Health Department conducted an inquiry which confirmed that there was no H1N1, also known as swine flu, but only mild type of influenza, he said in a statement.
Recently, the district administration had made the use of face masks mandatory, as well as issued an advisory for the public.
Earlier this year in August, hospitals in Delhi had seen a surge in swine flu cases.
