Chennai: Tamilnadu has reported 772 new Covid cases as against 775 on Thursday. After 884 persons were discharged, the number of active cases stood at 8,953.

Most districts reported a decline in cases, while Chennai logged the highest number of 120, followed by 119 in Coimbatore.

The overall positivity rate in the State stood at 0.8 percent, while the TPR in Chennai was 0.9 per cent after 1,02,088 more samples were tested in the State, including 13,550 samples in Chennai. The highest TPR of 1.3 per cent was reported in Coimbatore.

On Friday, 1,77,732 persons were vaccinated as against 8,36,796 persons on Thursday as part of a special camp, said a State health department data.

With 884 people being discharged after treatment, total recoveries touched 26,73,448. The active cases dropped below 9,000 — 8,953 people are under treatment.
