Chennai: The low perssure over the southwest Bay of Bengal crossed the north Tamilnadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Chennai on Friday. However, some districts of Tamilnadu will continue to get rains today and tomorrow, weather officials said.
The Met office has withdrawan the red alert issued to Chennai and 15 districts, including the Cauvery delta districts.
S Balachandran, Deputy Director General of Meteorology said the system now lies over North Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood about 60 km south-south west of Chennai and 60 km northeast of Puducherry.
Meanwhile, people of Chennai and suburbs, heaved a major sigh of relief, as there was no extremely rainfall as forecast by the met office when compared to the last week’s depression which also crossed the coast near Chennai bringing in heavy rainfall leading to flooding.
Chennai city received a maximum of 4.5 cms, while the suburban Meenambakkam observatory recorded 5.4 cm of rains.
