Chennai: The States of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal are on high alert due to Jawad Cyclone. Weather experts have predicted rains for some parts of Tamilnadu too, especially in the southern districts.
According to IMD’s latest bulletin, formation of low pressure associated with cyclonic circulation extending up to midtropospheric levels may turn into a depression.
The system will move northwestwards and reach north Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast around 4 December morning. ‘Though it is clear that the cyclonic storm will approach the Odisha coast, it is too immature to say where it will make land fall and other details. However, under its impact several coastal districts of Odisha will experience light to moderate rainfall from 3 December. South Odisha districts may also experience heavy rainfall on 3 December.’
With Cyclone Jawad approaching Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coastal regions, Indian Railways has decided to cancels nearly 100 trains on 3 and 4 December.
The storm is set to approach north Andhra Pradesh – Odisha coasts around Saturday morning and turn northeastward to track over east and northeast India through early next week. It is still too early to forecast the exact track and potential landfall area. However, the greatest impact would be in terms of heavy rains and localised flooding than winds across the eastern and northeastern States.
