I have a long way to go, says Lalitha Shobi

Acclaimed choreographer Lalitha Shobi, who won the Kerala State Award for best choreography for Sufiyum Sujathayum recently says, ‘I an happy and thrilled. But I have miles to go. The journey has just begun’.

Lalitha Shobi worked in Kamal Haasan’s Uttama Villain, and Bigil and 36 Vayadhinile; in Telugu, she worked in Prabhas’s Mr Perfect and films of Junior NTR. Aside from Sufiyum Sujathayum, Lalitha worked in the Malayalam films Mallu Singh and Happy Sardar

‘I have worked as an assistant to Prabhu Deva  and Chinni Prakash and Rekha Chinni Prakash. I became independent with SS Rajamouli sir’s Maryada Ramanna,’ Lalitha says.

Elaborating her experiences working for the film Sufiyum Sujathayum, she says, ‘It is the story of romance between Sujatha (Adhiti Rao Htadri) and a Sufi (played by Dev Mohan). The heroine is a kathak dancer in the film. I choreographed the twirling dance movements.’

‘It is a Hindu – Muslim relationship, their love comes forth, beyond anything else in the movie’.

She currently works in multiple projects including director Atlee’s Bollywood film with Shahrukh Khan in the lead.

I wish to direct a movie. Works are on. I hope I come with a good story and an engaging content, she adds.
