Chennai: As many as 604 people were infected and eight succumbed to the Covid-19 disease in the last 24 hours, according to a bulletin released by the Tamilnadu government Wednesday night.
Chennai once again reported most of the new cases (136) with a Test Positivity Rate of 0.8 percent — slightly higher than the State’s average figure of 0.6 percent.
In Coimbatore, 94 tested positive in the last 24 hours. In the six districts â Ariyalur, Mayiladuthurai, Perambalur, Ranipet, Tenkasi and Theni â no new cases were reported. In 19 districts, fewer than 10 persons were infected.
As many as 695 persons were discharged, bringing up the number of recoveries to 26,97,939. Currently, 6,979 are under treatment.
As far as vaccination was concerned, the government administered 1.5 lakh doses on Wednesday. So far, more than 84 percent in Tamilnadu have got their first doses.
