New Delhi: The Congress has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apologise to farmers for promising that their incomes would be doubled by 2022.
‘Please tell us if the incomes of the farmers have been doubled. Do remember that on February 28, 2016, he had promised to double farm incomes by 2022. This too turned out to be a jumla. The Prime Minister should apologise to the farmers,’ Congressâ chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala posted on to Twitter.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said Modi should not call himself a ‘fakir’ now with the addition of a ‘Rs 12 crore’ car in his cavalcade.
In his weekly column ‘Rokhthok’ in the Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, Raut also praised former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru for always using an Indian-made car, and late PM Indira Gandhi for not replacing her security guards despite a threat to her life.
