Chennai: Referring to concerns raised by the Opposition AIADMK members, Chief Minister M K Stalin assured in the Assembly Friday that the ‘Amma Unavagams’ (Amma subsidised canteens launched by late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa), will not be shut.
Recalling various programmes launched by the erstwhile DMK regime which were dropped after the AIADMK came to power, including converting the new Assembly complex at Omandurar Estate as Multi-Speciality hospital and closing down of Uzhavar Sandhais (Farmer shandys), Stalin said the DMK government would not close down any schemes launched by the previous AIADMK regime and it has no such ideas.
On closure of Amma Clinics, he said ‘how can we close it when it is not functioning’.
