Coimbatore: Seven persons were arrested for allegedly beheading a 25-year-old man and injuring his friend Sunday during a drunken brawl near Tiruppur.

The deceased has been identified as M Satheesh, a resident of Mayiladuthurai.

It is said an argument broke out between a gang of seven members and Satheesh and his friend Ranjith after they consumed alcohol in a secluded area.

All the seven were under the influence of alcohol and attacked Satheesh and Ranjith, said the police. The latter managed to flee the area with grievous injuries and informed Nallur rural police.

Nallur rural police reached the spot, they found Saheesh’s body lying in a pool of blood.

Police retrieved Satish’s body and sent it for postmortem. Tirupur city police Commissioner A G Babu on Monday formed four special teams and arrested the gang.
