TN govt to bear travel expenses of State students in Ukraine

Chennai: Chief Minister M K Stalin today said the Tamilnadu government will completely bear the travel expenses of students from the State who return from Ukraine.

An official press release here said till 10 am today, 916 students and others from Tamilnadu, who are staying in Ukraine, had contacted the State government seeking help.

The Tamilnadu government on Thursday set up a helpline for the benefit of Tamils stranded in Ukraine, where the Russian military is undertaking a ‘special military operation.’

The State government also appointed IAS officer and Commissioner of Rehabilitation and Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils Jacintha Lazarus as the State Nodal Officer to facilitate evacuation of stranded Tamils in Ukraine and to coordinate with their families, the Government of
