Chennai: On his birthday Tuesday (1 March) Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ (I am First) scheme aimed at developing skills in school and college students and the youth of the State.

The Chief Minister launched his dream project on the occasion of his 69th birthday and said it was a golden day today for him.

Initiating the program, Stalin said that the ‘I am the first’ project was my dream project and that the aim of the project was to make students and youth the first. There is job opportunities for educated youth. But, there is a lack of qualification for it.

He said the main aim of this scheme was to make all students become first in all activities including education, research, thinking, execution, talent.

Though all students finish their school education and gain college degrees, everyone is not getting jobs because of lack of employability skills among the students.

Stating that individual skills in students was the key to success in this competitive world, Stalin said he would directly monitor the education of students, hone their 3exceptional skills, create scientific skills in their minds, instill self-confidence, provide necessary training of their choice, upgrade their technical skills, introduce new subjects/courses and create qualified youth, upgrade the language skills under the scheme.

In short the scheme is like taking care of the students like their mother with inclusive and all round growth, he said.

As the State government was trying to become one trillion dollar economy by 2030, about two million youths should get their skills developed by 2026 and for this special training will be given to them. Before that the teachers will be given necessary training to train the students, he said, adding, this scheme would be helpful for generations.

The Chief Minister said that the lack of talent is a major shortcoming and the youth power is a deficient society.

He said, ‘it is easy to say that I am the first and it is difficult for everyone to be the first, and asked that students should choose and study the courses they like’.
