Covid-19: India records 2,528 new cases and 149 deaths


New Delhi: With 2,528 fresh infections, India’s Coronavirus caseload rose to 4,30,04,005.

According to Union Health Ministry data updated this morning, the country’s Covid-19 death toll climbed to 5,16,281 with 149 new fatalities.

The count of active cases has declined to 29,181. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has surged to 4,24,58,543.

The cumulative number of doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 180.97 crore.

India’s Covid-19 infection tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on 7 August, 2020, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September, 50 lakh on 16 September, 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October, 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and the one-crore mark on 9 December, 2020.

The country crossed the grim milestones of two crore cases on 4 May, 2021 and three crore on 23 June.
