New Delhi: Harmanpreet helped India post 277/7 in 50 overs against 6-time champions Australia at Eden Park in Auckland in Women’s World Cyp Match today.

Harmanpreet Kaur hit 57 from 47 balls, smashing 6 boundaries after coming into bat at No. 5 for India. The vice-captain stitched a 64-run stand in just 47 balls with all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar for the 7th wicket as India finished the innings with momentum with their side after Australia won the toss and opted to field.

Earlier in the day, captain Mithali Raj and left-hander Yastika Bhatia stitched a 130-run stand for the 3rd wicket after India lost their openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma early to Darcie Brown.

Yastika did a fine job with the bat, after dropping to No. 3 as India brought back Shafali Verma at the top after the big-hitter was dropped over poor form.

Mithali and Yastika steadied the ship and kept the scoreboard moving. While the captain hit 68 from 96 balls, the young left-hander hit 59 from 83 balls.

Mithali also equalled a World Cup record by scoring her 12th fifty in the showpiece event, emulating Debbie Hockley. For Australia, Brown shone with figures of 3/30 while leg-spinner Alana King picked up 2/52.
