BJP top guns brief Modi on Goa, Uttarkahand situations


New Delhi: After the BJP announced N Biren Singh will continue as Chief Minister of Manipur, its top leaders called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here to brief him on the leadership choices in Goa and Uttarakhand and the composition of Ministries in all the four States it retained in the recent polls.

Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh along with BJP national president J P Nadda and general secretary (organisation) B L Santhosh were part of the deliberations with the Modi.

Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday said Biren Singh has been elected the leader of party Legislature Party and will continue as Chief Minister of Manipur. The BJP central observers for the state Sithararaman and Kiren Rijiju and party leader Bhupendra Yadav had landed in Imphal earlier in the day to attend the crucial party meeting for the formation of the new BJP government in Manipur.

Known for his leadership in bringing peace to militancy-hit Manipur, Biren Singh thanked PM Narendra Modi and party president JP Nadda for reposing their trust in him.

The BJP has returned to power in Manipur by winning 32 seats in the 60-member House in the recent assembly elections in the State.
