Governor appoints new VC to TN Agri Varsity


Chennai: Tamilnadu Governor R N Ravi, who is also the Chancellor of the Tamilnadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, has appointed Dr V Geethalakshmi, as Vice-Chancellor of the University, for a period of three years with effect from the date of her assumption of office. Geethalakshmi has a rich teaching experience of about 26 years.

Under her guidance, 14 Ph.D scholars have successfully completed their research. Due to her initiative, TNAU entered into 11 Memorandums of Understanding with various national and international Institutes. She is one of the contributors for development of 3 new varieties of crops and developed 8 new technologies, a Raj Bhavan communique said.

She is also actively involved in organising various capacity building training programmes.

Geethlakshmi has significantly contributed towards research and has published 115 research papers in peer-reviewed journals. She has authored 11 books and has executed 33 research projects both at International and National level.

She has visited more than 30 countries for academic and research purposes.

Recently she has been awarded with Fellowship of Association of Agrometeorologist.
