Chief Minister M K Stalin being welcomed at Chennai airport this morning.

Chennai: After completing his Dubai and Abu Dhabi trip, Chief Minister M K Stalin reached Chennai during the wee hours of today.

He was accorded a warm welcome at the airport by Ministers K Ponmudy, Gingee Masthan, Chennai Mayor R Priya and other functionaries.

Government sources said the CM’s foreign trip was a grand success and he was able to attract huge investments to the State and multiple deals were signed.

Stalin said the trip to the United Arab Emirates has been a ‘complete success’. In a letter written to party cadres from Dubai, Stalin said he has signed ‘handful of agreements’ and obtained commensurate investments for Tamilnadu through the overseas visit.

According to Stalin, the Dubai and Abu Dhabi visits were meant to remove the ‘darkness spread by the AIADMK regime’ for the past 10 years and bring an economic dawn to Tamilnadu.

Stalin had invited industry captains and business leaders to invest in the State by saying opportunities were available in abundance.

On his maiden trip overseas after assuming office in May 2021, Stalin, addressing a conference organised by Guidance Tamilnadu, said, ‘I take this opportunity to invite you to Tamil Nadu to engage in a partnership of investment, innovation, growth and prosperity.’

Meanwhile, AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday hit out at Stalin alleging that in the eyes of the people his Dubai visit was only a ‘family picnic’. Palaniswami said that when Stalin was leader of the opposition, he had mocked at him and his cabinet as ‘AIADMK picnic cabinet’ as he had taken three of his Ministers and government officials during his official visits abroad.

However, Stalin’s entire family has now gone along with him to Dubai, Palaniswami said.

Reacting to this, the DMK took responsibility for the special flight fare for Stalin to travel to Dubai to take part at the trade exhibition, Industries Minister Thangam Thennarasu said.
