Chennai: The main Opposition AIADMK in Tamilnadu Tuesday staged a State-wide protest demonstration condemning the property tax hike effected by the DMK government and demanded its roll back.

In Chennai, party coordinator O Panneerselvam led the protest in front
of Valluvar Kottam, while joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami led
the demonstration in front of Tiruchy Railway junction in which senior
leaders, former Ministers and scores of AIADMK cadres took part and
shouted slogans denouncing the hike.

Speaking on the occaison, Panneerselvam said the protests will continue
and it will turn into a people’s movement if the hike was not rolled back.

In his speech, Palaniswami said the DMK government, without caring for
the people, had hiked the tax rates citing the Centre’s guidelines and said
the hike should be rolled back immediately.
