Chennai / Thiruvananthapuram: Tamilnadu Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin’s presence at CPI(M)’s congress at Kannur in Kerala might lead to new discussions in national politics.
He is set to attend the congress, which is to be held later today, as a dignitary and will deliver an address. The decision to invite the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu is due to CPI(M) being part of the DMK-Congress alliance Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan is also speaking at the congress.
The party had started the preparations for the party congress well ahead and completed the build-up programmes like seminars, cultural meetings, drama fests and party meetings at many places in the district. Kannur town has turned red already with huge cutouts of leaders.
The town is flooded with people and vehicles, leaving most roads and tourist destinations choked. For visitors, it has become tough to get accommodation as there are hardly any rooms left in hotels and resorts. Most rooms are occupied till the last day of the party congress on Sunday.
