Chennai: Fresh cases in Tamilnadu dropped to 28 on Monday, when the State discharged 27 patients. There were no deaths and 229 patients continued to take treatment for the viral infection, either at home or in hospitals, according to the Health department.

The State has reported a total of 34,53,112 Covid-19 cases so far. The total number of samples tested dropped to 17,195. So far, 6,58,35,782 samples were tested in the State.

Chennai, which added 10 new cases, was the only district to report cases in two digits. Chengalpet reported four new cases followed by three in Madurai, two each in Coimbatore, Kancheepuram, Ranipet and Tirupur. Krishnagiri, Tiruvallur and Trichy reported one case each. Twenty-eight of 38 districts reported zero cases.

Vaccines were administered to 37,495 persons on Monday. This included 8,650 children aged 12 to 14; 6,984 aged 15 to 18; and 11,092 aged 18 to 44.
