AIADMK functionary grilled in Kodanad case

Coimbatore: The special police team probing the Kodanad heist-cum-murder case interrogated AIADMK’s Amma Peravai functionary ‘Anubav’ Ravi at Coimbatore on Monday.

This comes two days after questioning former AIADMK MLA VC Arukutty in the case. The Kodanad estate was former Chief Minister J Jayalalitha’s retreat.

The key accused in the case, Kanagaraj, who died in an accident four days after the incident at Kodanadu Estate in Nilgiris district, where the security guard Om Bahadur was murdered on 24 April, 2017, had reportedly made his last phone call to Ravi.

Based on this, the team led by West Zone IG R Sudhakar interrogated Ravi for more than three hours, police said.

Ravi, a prosecution witness, approached the Madras High Court in August 2021 opposing further investigation into the Kodanad case. His petition was subsequently dismissed, following which he approached the Supreme Court in September 2021 by filing a special leave petition against further investigation.

However, the Supreme Court refused to interfere with the investigation and the SLP was withdrawn.
