Chennai: Building plan approvals are no more a thing of difficulty, as they will now materialise within 60 days, through an online single window system.

The Tamilnadu housing and urban development department has ordered Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) and the Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) to launch the ā€˜Go Live’ website.

According to a government order, ‘Integration of the no-objection certificate issuing agencies into the TN single-window portal should be carried out within the single window online system as per the readiness of those departments in the first phase.

Integration of urban local bodies and rural local bodies in the single window portal shall be carried out in a phased manner based on their readiness as per the decision made during the meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister.’

As of now, though much of the process has been online, the requirement for no-objection certificates (NOCs) from various departments, delay in-site inspections by officials and follow-up on the approval process remained offline, making it a tedious and time-consuming process.
