Amit Shah visit: BJP’s big plans for TN, Pondy


Chennai: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said culture was the common thread that bound citizens across the country, said Addressing the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of revolutionary freedom fighter-turned-spiritual guru Sri Aurobindo, organised by the Sri Aurobindo Society in Puducherry Sunday, Shah said India was the only geo-cultural country in the world based on culture whereas other countries were geopolitical, be it Europe, America, Russia or China.

Amit Shah arrived in Chennai on Saturday night en route to his visit to Puducherry. The Union Minister reached the CRPF campus at Avadi and stayed there. In Puducherry, he kickstarted various projects.

Senior BJP functionaries including the party’s State president K Annamalai received Amit Shah at the airport around 9.30 pm. Near the airport, the BJP cadre gave a warm reception to their party leader. The Union Minister got down from his vehicle and waved his hands at the cadre.

Sources said the BJP is eyeing a sizeable number of MPs from Tamilnadu and the lone seat in Puducherry for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

‘During his visit, Amit Shah discussed with party seniors on the strategies to be implemented to reap electoral victory,’ sources added.
