Chennai: Here are some latest updates from the world of sports. Founder and general secretary of Schools Cricket Federation of India, P B Sunil Kumar has announced the election of G John Amalan as the president of South India Schools Cricket Association.

Further, Amalan has also been elected as the national organising secretary of Schools Cricket Federation of India (SCFI).

The induction ceremony of Amalan as the president of South India Schools Cricket Association is to be held on 26 June, 2022, in Chennai, a press note said.

State championships

Tamilnadu Gymnastics Association is conducting the State Championships for Artistic Gymnastics for the years 2021-2022 at the SDAT Hall of Gymnastics, Velachero. This is the first time that the event has been conducted since 2016 with recognition from the SDAT and Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) and over 200 gymnasts are representing districts across Tamilnadu,’ said a press note.

‘Artistic Gymnastics is the Olympic sport that was boosted to the limelight by the performance of Dipa Karmakar when she narrowly missed Bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics. There is tremendous potential for the development of gymnastics in India – and Tamilnadu in particular,’ said Th. Roghabarani, the president of TNGA.

KL Rahul’s new role

XYXX, a premium inner wear and comfort wear label, has roped in Indian cricketer KL Rahul as its first-ever ambassador for the inner wear and lounge wear category. In June 2021, XYXX had raised Rs 30 crore in Series-A funding from Sauce.vc, DSG Consumer Partners and Synergy Capital Partners. This April, KL Rahul has joined the ranks as an investor in XYXX for an undisclosed amount, it said.

According to Yogesh Kabra, founder, ‘Rahul is an Indian cricket sensation, who has always let his hard work and achievements do the talking. He exemplifies the brand belief of trusting your instinct. In addition to being a world-class sportsman, Rahul is also the perfect embodiment of the young, discerning Indian man, who keeps it real, both on and off the pitch. We could not have found a more ideal person as our first-ever brand ambassador.’
