The loudspeaker row, on Monday, intensified further after several Sri Ram Sene activists were detained in Karnataka for playing Hanuman Chalisa and Suprabhatam on loudspeakers. The activists of the organization have been playing Hanuman Chalisa and Suprabhatam since 5 am on Monday in their agitation against Azaans being aired on speakers in the early hours.
Various Hindu organizations have extended their support to Sri Ram Sene founder Pramod Muthalik in his call to play Hindu chants to counter the Azaan on loudspeakers. Muthalik’s organization had warned that if the Karnataka government does not stop loudspeakers playing Azaan, they would be playing Hanuman Chalisa and Suprabhatam on speakers. Mutalik had set May 9 as the deadline for starting the agitation.
