Chennai : Due to heavy rains and gusty winds in Chennai and vicinity from midnight of 9 May, the operation of train services was affected in all four suburban sections.
The services of 18 mail/express and 22 EMU trains were disrupted due to OHE failure and minor signal glitches. According to a Southern Railway release, this OHE and signal problems have been restored in a quick span of time with the efforts taken by Chennai Division Officers and staff worked throughout the night. It said General Manager B G Mallya and DRM Ganesh monitored the situation from midnight until the issue was resolved. Owing to the concerted efforts of the team of officials round the clock, Chennai suburban services were restored in minimum possible time,’ it added.
