The annual Vaikasi brahmotsavam began today with dwajarohanam at the famous Kanchi Varadaraja Swamy temple. On of the sacred shrines for vaishnavites, Kanchi Varadaraja Swamy temple is one among 108 divya desams.
Amidst chanting of vedic hymns, the dwajarohanam ceremony took place today. The processional deity of the Almighty was decked up and taken out on rounds. On the third day of the fest, Garuda Sevai will be held and the famous thiru ther procession will be held on seventh day.
Devotees from various parts of the country are visiting the temple town.
