A day after alleged row over imposition of Hindi at a Varsity convocation, Governor RN Ravi has left for New Delhi. Reports say that he might meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discuss few crucial issues regarding Tamilnadu.
The alleged Hindi imposition in Tamilnadu echoed
at the 37th convocation of the State-owned Bharathiyar University, with Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy, while batting for continuance of the existing two-language formula, saying that the ruling DMK was not against Hindi language
and that it could be made optional as third language for the students to decide, Ravi, also the Varsity Chancellor, refuting it and said the Centre was not imposing Hindi.

Taking a dig at those who insist jobs will be available for those who learn Hindi, the Minister asked who is selling ‘pani puri’ in the city now, an obvious reference to the predominantly Hindi-speaking vendors involved in the trade.
