OPS continues to hold discussions

Chennai: For the fourth consecutive day today, deliberations continued for third day today at the residence of AIADMK convenor and former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on the issue of single leadership in the party.

Senior leaders of the party Vaithilingam and Manoj Pandian met OPS and spoke on the issue. With just a week to go for AIADMK’s general council meeting, a decision on leadership is expected to snowball into a big crisis.

Interestingly, Panneerselvam accused OPS of inviting functionaries to speak on single leadership at a meeting on Tuesday. ‘I had no intimation about it. How is it appropriate to seek single leadership when I was sitting there, OPS asked. He hinted at the opponents’ plans to pass the resolution at the general council meeting forcefully, thereby compelling his group to seek legal remedy.’

The principal opposition party in Tamil Nadu has convened a meeting of its general council and executive committee on June 23 to discuss several crucial issues confronting the party and the latest political developments.
