The simmering discontent between Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam over single leadership in AIADMK has reached its peak. Both the leaders have been holding parleys with their supporters with just a couple of days to go for the general council meeting of the party.
Panneerselvam in a letter signed by R Vaithilingam, one of the deputy coordinators, called for the postponement of the general council meeting owing to confusion among party office bearers and cadres. However the EPS camp is keen on holding the meet.
After inspecting the arrangements being made for the general council meeting at Vanagaram, the party’s deputy coordinator KP Munusamy said the meeting would take place as scheduled. AIADMK functionary and lawyer M Babu Murugavel told reporters that the general council would not be postponed and it would take place as scheduled and that the council meeting would move towards single leadership for the AIADMK.
Remember office-bearers belonging to the EPS camp had demanded that the party be led by a single leader as part of efforts to strengthen the party and their choice was EPS. However OPS made it clear that he was not in favour of the proposal and had asserted that no resolution could be brought in in the party meet without the concurrence of the top two leaders – him and his colleague EPS.
