The Supreme Court will hear former Chief Minister and AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami’s plea to vacate a wee-hour injunction order granted by the Madras high court in favour of O Panneerselvam’s side.
On 23 June, a division bench of the Madras High Court restrained the AIADMK general council from adopting any resolution other than the 23 pre-approved ones by the dual leadership comprising OPS and EPS. The petitioner M Shanmugam accused Palaniswami, C Ve Shanmugam, K P Munusamy, D Jayakumar and Dindigul C Sreenivasan besides the newly elected presidium chairman A Tamil Magan Hussain of deliberately disobeying the court orders. He wanted to stall Hussain’s appointment as ‘permanent’ presidium chairman and fixing the date for next general council meeting. On its part, the EPS faction moved the SC to vacate the interim order. Following which EPS filed a plea in SC seeking to vacate the stay.
The case has been listed for hearing on Wednesday, say sources in the apex court.
