SIDBI’s Swavalamban Mela held in Chennai


Chennai : Artisans and entrepreneurs mostly women from across the state showcased their handicrafts and products during the SIDBI’s Swavalamban Mela held in Chennai. Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries, of Tamilnadu Government, Sigy Thomas Vaidyan was the chief guest and inaugurated the 5 daylong event. “There were almost 50 stalls by artisans and entrepreneurs from almost all the districts in the State. Swavalamban Mela aims to spread entrepreneurship culture across the country. The main objective of Swavalamban Mela is to turn youth from ‘job seekers’ to ‘job creators’, restrict rural migration to urban areas and to promote sustainable livelihood opportunities,” the release added.
