Mumbai, Aug 1; India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be leading the Men in Blue in the T20I series vs Ireland. The opening game is on August 18.This is also Bumrah’s comeback to the national side after nearly 11 months. The 29-year-old was out of action due to injury and had also required surgery. Only recently, after months of rehabilitation at the NCA, Bumrah was cleared to play and was training in Mumbai as a result.
The squad has some fresh faces. IPL heroes like Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma received calls.
Also, Prasidh Krishna makes a return from injury.India will play 3 T20Is vs Ireland and this series comes between the current West Indies tour that ends on August 13 and the Asia Cup that starts on August 31. It will end on August 23.
A preparatory camp will take place before the Asia Cup and will be attended by the full-strength squad.
Tilak Varma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson, Ravi Bishnoi, Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan are the only ones from the T20I squad in West Indies who are in the squad vs Ireland.
The promising development is that Bumrah was bowling as many as 7 overs daily at the NCA, which is good news for fans with the ODI World Cup just a little over 2 months away. The schedule is officially out.
