On refusal to release Cauvery water to Tamilnadu as per Supreme Court Order by the Congress-led government in Karnataka, Chief Minister MK Stalin has knocked the doors of the Supreme Court. The biggest question is will the neighbouring State be compelled to release water. Says Surya Vetrikondan, DMK spokesperson, ‘We are confident to get our due share of Cauvery water from them. Unfortunately the Cauvery River Water Tribunal has become toothless. The BJP government has ruled the country for over 9 years. Sadly, they have made it toothless. Had the Modi government should some courage, they would got us our due share. And if the previous AIADMK government, which was part of the BJP alliance should urgency in the matter, we would not be suffering now’. SS Sriram, political analyst, says, ‘Blaming Modi for everything is unacceptable. The DMK is part of I.N.D.I.A in which Congress is a key constituent. They meeg often to chaln out strategy to defeat Modi in 2024 polls. Had DMK showed same resolve and dealt Congress government sternly, the issue would be easily resolved’.
