Hours after AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami and TN BJP chief tweeted that country bombs were hurled by two factions of students af a private hospital against each other, the city police clarified that they burst crackers to create scare and no bombs were used. Police said, investigations revealed that the student groups burst crackers inside the college to scare a few. But rumours spread thick and fast that country bombs were hurled. We have investigated thoroughly. Police have registered a case under section 285 IPC (negligent conduct with fire or combustible matter), and have arrested one student. the management of the college in Velachery has dismissed 18 students for their ‘involvement in antisocial activities and creating unrest on the campus’.
