28 TN fishermen attacked, robbed mid-sea

At least 28 Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu’s Nagapattinam district were allegedly assaulted and robbed in mid-sea by Sri Lankans near Point Calimere on Monday evening. A fisherman named Bhaskar suffered grievous injuries after he was hit on the head with an iron rod. Also Arulraj, a fisherman, suffered a cut on his hand. Fishermen with critical injuries were provided treatment initially at the Pushpavanam beach and later shifted to the Nagapattinam government hospital, police said. At least seven attacks and robberies have been reported here in the last two month
